Dear Henderson Bay High School Students:
As Principal of the Henderson Bay High School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the start of another school year. HBHS staff members are committed to helping students reach their goals and be successful in all aspects of life. You would have a difficult time finding a more caring group of people who provide the individual attention and encouragement necessary to make progress and success attainable. I look forward to working with you and the staff to create opportunities for you to experience success and to grow both personally and academically.
Henderson Bay High School is a unique Peninsula School District educational option for students who choose to accept the responsibility associated with enrollment. For students to be successful at Henderson Bay, it takes commitment on their part as well as the part of their parents. We have high expectations for students regarding health, academic progress, attendance, behavior and tolerance of others. Students must be committed to living healthy lifestyles, attending school regularly and progressing academically, and must behave appropriately for the school setting, including treating all staff and students with respect. Before you enroll, please read very carefully the Health Contract, Student Expectations Contract, and Tobacco Contract. Ask questions, take time to think about it, and be sure that you are willing to follow our program requirements prior to enrolling. Then, make your signature a commitment to our program. If Henderson Bay cannot meet your needs or if you are unable to fulfill the contracts, we will try to connect you with other educational opportunities in the Pierce County area where you might be more successful.
It is my belief that every student who enrolls at Henderson Bay High School can be successful. Students in our program are just as capable of success in academics as students in traditional high schools. Additionally, HBHS students excel in the area of respecting other people and taking pride in their school. Your teachers are committed to establishing a relationship with you and personalizing your learning. I, too, will be working hard to help you reach your individual goals, treat you with respect, demonstrate confidence in your ability, and model integrity. I appreciate that you have chosen to be part of the Henderson Bay High School community and assure you that, if you are committed to our program, you will be successful.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Gregory
